Daniel Hopkins, an apprentice from the Heart of Worcestershire College is celebrating today after being announced as one of the nominees for this year’s Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards.

Daniel who is currently undertaking an apprenticeship as a Warehouse and Operations Supervisor at Green Lighting Limited, in Worcester, has been nominated for the ‘Intermediate Level Apprentice of the Year’ at the 2015 award ceremony.

Daniel began his apprenticeship with the company in July 2014 with the desire to gain a qualification outside of the classroom setting. Daniel has since developed within the company taking on the position of a supervisor when his predecessor left.

Speaking about his apprenticeship with the company Daniel said:

“This apprenticeship has been a great opportunity for me to work towards a recognised qualification whilst gaining invaluable skills in the workplace.  I’m really enjoying working with the added benefit of learning along the way.

“The company and the College have been really supportive and are always on hand to help with any problems, answer any questions and help me to establish where I want to head with my career once I have completed my apprenticeship.”

Speaking about his award nomination success Daniel added:

“It’s really nice to be nominated for the Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards and inevitably be recognised for my hard-work. I’m looking forward to the ceremony and to hopefully come back with an award.”

Alex Ferguson, Apprenticeship Assessor at HoW College, added:

“I’m very proud to be connected with such an organisation that has certainly looked after its trainees. Dan has done really well on his apprenticeship by consistently handing work in on time and working above and beyond to aid his progression through the company; he’s a credit to both the company and the College.”

Matt Harwood, Engineering Curriculum, Resource and Quality Manager at the College, also commented:

“We’re really pleased to continue the relationship with Green Lighting; they invest in their employees by sending them to Heart of Worcestershire College where they know they’re going to get a good service and a high level of education with bespoke assessments at a time and date to suit the company and candidate.”

The Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards 2015 will take place on 12th November at West Midland’s Safari Park’s Tree Top Pavilions.
