Local business sponsors student photography exhibition

Local business sponsors student photography exhibition3Following the success of last year’s show, Visual Communication and Photography students at Royal Leamington Spa College are again showcasing their talents at an exhibition that seeks to demonstrate the vitality of the art form and promote interest in photography at the college.

The show, entitled “Warwickshire” gives students the chance to showcase their work and also be in the running for prizes donated by show sponsor, Cewe. The launch night is on Wednesday 9 December from 5pm.

The photography department is delighted to be generously sponsored by Cewe, the largest digital imaging company in Europe, with a local plant housing state of the art equipment. Students have already benefited from Cewe’s local expertise through the apprenticeship scheme, and the company is keen to collaborate with the college as an education provider, to push photography on all platforms.

Jane Murray, photography lecturer said, “Staging an exhibition is significant professional challenge for students, and as such, they are excited by the opportunity it provides for them to hone their employability and enterprise skills.

“They are extremely grateful for the support of Cewe, who are funding the printing of their work, including the publication of a digital book of images.”

Jane continued, “The event represents a great opportunity to forge links with a specialist local business, and to build connections with creative and community organisations, including the local photography club and galleries, all of whom will be invited to the opening night.”

The event takes place at the Bistro in Royal Leamington Spa College on Wednesday 9 December from 5-7.30pm. Work, including books, postcards and prints will be on sale. Guests will also be able to enjoy drinks and canapes prepared and served by the catering students and bistro staff.

Royal Leamington Spa College offers a range of arts courses, including visual communication. For more information call 0300 456 0049 or go to www.warwickshire.ac.uk/courses.
