South Staffordshire College are delighted to announce that they have been shortlisted for a prestigious TES FE Award for ‘Outstanding use of technology for improving teaching and learning’.
Designed to recognise and celebrate the dedication and expertise of the people and teams who continue to make a significant contribution to improving the skills of young people and adult learners, the TES FE Awards reward the achievements of some of the finest education providers in the country.
Naturally, South Staffordshire College are thrilled with their shortlisting, which comes as a result of their commitment to embracing the latest technology and digital learning platforms to improve their learner’s experiences.
Over the past year the College have worked with their partner ‘Vitalize Consultancy’ to transform their learning resources centres at all campuses and have successfully implemented ‘Google Apps for Education’. A cloud based application, this provides a host of additional benefits for learners including remote access to documents and applications, on any device, anywhere. Learners also enjoy the opportunity to enjoy real-time collaboration, Google Classroom, email and calendars.
The state-of-the-art learning resource centres providing a sleek, modern and uber stylish learning environment and have been fitted with the latest pioneering technology to provide learners with more access than ever to the resources they need to aid their studies. The introduction of hundreds of sleek new Chromebase desktop devices, that run the latest Google Chrome systems mean students also enjoy split-second access to the internet.
Each Learning Resource Centre has also been designed to accommodate additional work stations, increasing capacity across all campuses.

The winners of the 2016 TES FE Awards will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on 22nd April 2016.

Now running for a second time to to popular demand, the event which will be held within the stunning 180 hectare estate of Rodbaston Hall, will take place on 16th March 2016, from 9.30am – 3.30pm. Open to both technical and non-technical senior managers and teachers in the public and private education sector, the event will once again include a number of presentations delivered by speakers from Google and wider technology innovators.
Keynote speakers will include leading education influencer Bob Harrison, who is Vice Chair of Governors at Northern College and Founder of SET UK, plus a presenter from Jisc.
