Walsall College currently has over 130 live apprenticeship vacancies and is inviting students across the borough, looking to get on the career ladder, to come along to its Apprenticeship Jobs Fair on Wednesday 27th April, 4-7pm.
Students will have the chance to find out more about the opportunities available and apply for vacancies at the event, which is being held at the college’s Wisemore Campus
Opportunities are available in a wide range of industries, from construction to dental and hairdressing to pharmacy, and from GCSE right through to degree level. By coming to the event, students could land themselves a job in their dream career with an immediate start. Staff from the college’s Job Shop will also be on hand with interview advice and tips on completing the National Apprenticeship application form.
Bad Apple Hair, Bhandal Dental Surgery, Little Explorers Nursery, Jhoots Pharmacy, NHS Walsall and The Parkbrook restaurant are just some of the employers that are currently looking to recruit apprentices.
While managers from CLC Contractors, Perkins Engines Ltd, Aspray Logistics, specialist vehicle converter and supplier, MacNeillie, and food manufacturer, Anis’s will also be at the event to talk to potential candidates.
More and more school leavers are now taking up apprenticeships as A-levels and university are no longer seen as the only route to a successful career. Apprenticeships allow people to gain their qualifications in the workplace and earn a wage whilst working alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills.
James Norris, Assistant Principal for Commercial Development at Walsall College, commented: “Apprenticeships provide young people with the opportunity to gain valuable skills and real work experience that will lead to greater employment prospects in the future, and are also a fantastic way for businesses to develop new talent and pass their knowledge on to the next generation of workers.”
