STUDENT GETS THE CHOP FOR CHARITY

A brave student from City of Wolverhampton College has faced the chop in aid of charity.

A Level student Fern Harris waved goodbye to her locks so that they could be donated to the Little Princess Trust, which provides real-hair wigs, free of charge, to boys and girls that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses.

The 17-year-old, who has spent two and a half years growing her hair, got it shaved off at the college’s Hair Academy at Metro One Campus on June 27.

Fern, who is studying for A Levels in English, history and sociology, said: “It’s my 18th birthday this year and I wanted to do something extravagant to remember it by. I had heard a lot about the Little Princess Trust and had been thinking about getting involved for a while so decided to just go for it.”

Fern is also hoping to raise £300 – the amount it costs to make a wig – via JustGiving. To make a donation visit https://www.justgiving.com/Fern-Harris
