STUDENTS PUT THROUGH THEIR PACES BY MARINES

Students from City of Wolverhampton College were put through their paces when they got a taste of life in the armed forces.

The Public Services students were visited by the Royal Marines, who put them through a series of rigorous physical drills.

The hour long class included multiple rounds of press-ups, sit- ups and shuttle runs. The circuits were followed by a presentation where students were able to ask questions about careers in the forces.

Public Services Lecturer Richard Jones said: “This exercise was intended to give students an idea of the level of fitness required to be a Marine.

“The students really benefit from sessions like these, which help them find out more about the career routes available to them and hear real accounts from those who are serving.”

The college offers a range of courses for people looking for a career in the uniformed public services, from Level 1 right up to HNC. For more information ring 01902 836000 or visit www.wolvcoll.ac.uk/subject/uniformed-public-services/
