Christmas has kicked-off at City of Wolverhampton College with cookery students set to dish up over 500 seasonal meals and bakery students selling festive treats in a pop-up shop in the city centre.

Students studying for catering and hospitality qualifications will be serving traditional four and five-course Christmas lunches and evening meals in the college’s popular Academy restaurant, whilst those doing bakery qualifications will be selling mince pies, Christmas cakes and Yule logs outside the former BHS store in the Mander Centre on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10am-2pm, until December 15.

Heath Arnfield, curriculum manager for catering at the college, said: “This is a really exciting opportunity for students to use the skills they are learning on their courses to dish up a range of festive favourites to customers in the restaurant and bakery shops whilst also gaining valuable work experience during what is the busiest time of year in the catering industry.”

People can also stock up on baked goods – including freshly-made cakes, biscuits, bread and sandwiches – at the Academy bakery at the Metro One campus on weekdays from 10am to 2pm.
