Energetic Elishah Crutchley has turned her passion for health and fitness into a successful business venture which is taking her on a star-studded journey across the UK.
The 23-year-old, from Telford, is working alongside former X Factor star Chico Slimani and travelling all over the country as a fitness trainer and presenter. She has also opened her own studio, The Workout, in New Street, Wellington.
And the former Charlton School student says it’s all thanks to her time at Telford College of Arts and Technology, which helped her onto a gym and personal trainer course during her time at the TCAT Sports school.
The latest part-time level two Fitness Instructor course starts at TCAT on January 20, and Elishah is urging anyone interested in a career in the industry to sign up and ‘achieve their dreams’.
She said: I chose TCAT because I was aware they were very good for sport and fitness, and I knew that’s exactly the path that I needed to take to achieve my dreams.
“I have a huge passion for fitness, because it changes people’s mindsets, and gives them strength to deal with what life throws at them. I get to watch their transformations – it’s so rewarding.
“As soon as I started at TCAT, they pointed me in the direction of my Exercise To Music gym and personal trainer course, while I was studying sport.
“It allowed me to continue onto other courses in the fitness industry, and give me the qualifications I needed, to get me where I am today.”
In addition to running her Wellington studio, Elishah also travels the UK as a fitness presenter for Clubbercise, and as a fitness presenter and Blockfit trainer alongside X Factor star Chico.
She said: “I’m involved in representing his brand and filming the choreography that gets sent out to instructors to use in their classes, as well as delivering training to instructors and presenting at big events.
Chico came to Wellington to officially open Elishah’s studio. He said: “She was one of my first students anywhere in the country and the first in Shropshire to train as a Blockfit instructor.
“She has put a great deal of hard work and determination in to being one of the best at Blockfit and her efforts have paid off.
Elishah added: “My whole journey started at TCAT, which allowed me to turn my childhood dream and vision into reality.
“If you are someone that wants to make a true genuine difference to people’s lives, then give the TCAT courses a try. It’s hard work but is the most rewarding job you can do.
“Doing these fitness courses has allowed me to grow into that person I always wanted to be. When I was at school I never used to get up in front of my drama class of 20 people – now I warm up thousands of people at events every year. So don’t let anything stop you.”
Mel Newbrook, sports lecturer and curriculum co-ordinator, said: “Our level two Fitness Instructor course is ideal for anyone over the age of 16 who is thinking of a career as a gym instructor.
“It covers topics such as anatomy and physiology for exercise, health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment, plus principles of exercise, and planning and instructing gym-based exercise.”
The TCAT level two Fitness Instructor course runs from 9am to 4.30pm two days a week, running from January 20, to July 7. For more details, or to book a place, call 01952 642237.
