Secrets to making apprenticeships work for you revealed at events

Many businesses are missing out on opportunities to upskill their staff because they don’t understand what’s available to them under the apprenticeship scheme. Now WCG is promising to dispel all the myths with a series of apprenticeship breakfasts across Warwickshire and Worcestershire.

As the largest college training provider in the region, WCG’s team are experts in making apprenticeships work for employers, and have recently been shortlisted in the TES FE Awards for Apprenticeship Programme of the Year and as Training Partner of the Year at the Semta Skills Awards. At the jargon-busting roadshows in Rugby, Warwick and Pershore, employers can find out:

  • How to get the most out of the scheme
  • How apprentices can make a difference to their business
  • How to develop existing staff using the scheme

Melanie Shaw, Director of Work-based Learning at WCG said, “The government is making a number of reforms to apprenticeships, beginning with the apprenticeship levy in April 2017, so this is a great opportunity for businesses to find out more. The new system is much more flexible and means that employers have the opportunity to think more about existing staffing either through upskilling, CPD or succession planning.

“We’re the biggest college provider of apprenticeships in the Midlands so our staff are hugely experienced and can share that with employers, many of whom aren’t sure what the new reforms will mean for them. Our team work with a wide range of businesses, large and small, in a range of sectors, and understand the challenges faced. These apprenticeship breakfasts will dispel the myths and offer employers all the information they need to make apprenticeships work for their business.”

The free events take place from 7.45am-9am on the following dates:

  • Friday 27 January – Warwick Trident College
  • Friday 17 February – Rugby College
  • Friday 3 March – Pershore Business Lounge
  • Thursday 30 March – Rugby College
  • Thursday 27 April – Warwick Trident College
