Construction Students Build on Skills in Competition

Talented construction students kicked off the new term by battling against their classmates in a trade competition.

Over 200 construction students from a range of courses, including electrical, brickwork, carpentry, plumbing and painting & decorating, took part in the event at the college’s Construction Innovation centre.

The event was sponsored by Kier, who judged the competition and presented prizes of a £50 voucher to the winners of each discipline.

Curriculum Manager Joel Dalhouse said: “This competition week allowed students to showcase the skills they had learnt and developed over the first term at college.

“It enabled them to experience what it is like to work under pressure and to commercial standards, equipping them for the workplace and their future careers.

“Our thanks go to Kier for sponsoring the competition with prizes totalling £600 and for sharing their expertise with our learners.”
