Rosie triumphs in regional skills competition

Beauty Therapy student Rosie Snelson is celebrating after winning first place in a regional skills competition.

Rosie, 17, from Braunstone, is studying the Level 2 Beauty Therapy course at Royal Leamington Spa College and took part in the regional UK Skills competition against students from across the West Midlands at The Beauty Show at the NEC.

Rosie said, “It was my first competition so I wasn’t expecting to win! There were three rounds – a mini-facial, day make-up and nail art and polish and the time went so fast.

“My tutors Sharn and Sam really helped preparing me, giving me advice and tips. The judges were checking everything really closely so I knew all the details had to be perfect. It’s great to have on my CV and I really enjoyed the experience so hope to do more competitions in the future.”

Rosie will now have to wait and see if she qualifies for the national UK Skills final which also takes place at the NEC at The Skills Show in November.

Rosie recently won the college’s Outstanding Achievement Award in Hair and Beauty and is also impressing clients at the college’s salons. Liz Phillips is a regular client saying, “Rosie is absolutely excellent. She’s so gentle and really relaxes you – I’m very pleased to hear she has won the competition.”

Royal Leamington Spa College offers a range of beauty therapy courses. For more information, call 0300 456 0049 or go to www.warwickshire.ac.uk/courses.
